Fox Rent A Car Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2008 and 31-Dec-2008

Payment:
Debit cards: Debit card only accepted at time of rental when presented with the return flight segment of a round trip airline ticket. Return segment can be presented in the form of the actual ticket or an electronic ticket. At time of rental the counter representative will take a copy of the presented document and attach to the original rental document retained at the location. Valid drivers license and debit card must be in the same name. Debit card must have available funds of $250.00 plus total estimated rental charges.
NOTE: Unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor after vehicle return. Due to bank processing it can take up to 14 days to appear back on your account when using this form of payment.

Major credit cards: Valid drivers license and credit card must be in the same name. Credit card must have available funds of $250.00 or estimated amount of rental charges plus 15% whichever is greater.
NOTE: We do not accept the miniature key tag style credit cards.
NOTE: Unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor after vehicle return. Due to bank processing it can take between 2 to 5 days to appear back on your account when using this form of payment.

Cash rentals: Available on economy, compact and midsize car class reservation only. Only accepted at time of rental when presented with the copy of the incoming flight and return flight segments of a round trip airline ticket with the same name as indicated on valid drivers license. Incoming and return segments can be presented in the form of the actual ticket or an electronic ticket. At time of rental the counter representative will take a copy of the presented documents and attach to the original rental document retained at the location. Cash funds in the amount of $250.00 plus estimated rental charges taken at time of rental when aforementioned conditions met. Cash rentals not available in Oakland (CA), or Phoenix (AZ). Additional drivers not available on cash rentals.

A - Yes. We do assist with reserving vehicle with hand controls. We cannot provide hand controls on every make or model of vehicle, and cannot confirm a reservation for a particular make or model of vehicle on any rental.

Q - Can someone else drive a vehicle rented by a driver with a disability?
A - Yes, however that person would have to meet all the qualifications and restrictions as the primary renter.

Reserving my car:
Q - Can you reserve a specific make/model car for me?
A - Unfortunately, no. However, we can guarantee you the size car you reserve.

Q - Do you require a credit card to make a reservation?
A - We doesn’t require a credit card to make a reservation Other vendors/partners using our name/logo might need a credit card to make a reservation. It is better to call them to make sure the need of this requirement.

Q - How do I cancel an existing reservation?
A - We do not charge a cancellation fee, but does request such cancellation notice as soon as travel plans have changed. Reservations will be honored for a period of four hours after the confirmed pick up date and time. Reservations confirmed for a pick up within the locations last three hours of operations, will be honored by that location up to 9 am the next day.

If your reservation was confirmed through another provider (booking site, outside source, etc.), please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Some providers (booking site, outside source, etc.) may charge for the cancellation of a reservation if not cancelled within a specific time frame. Cancellation of a reservation directly thru FOX Rent A Car when confirmed thru another provider may not relieve your responsibility with that provider. In order to alleviate such charges (cancellation fee or penalty) check with the provider and cancel the reservation directly with the provider.

A - FOX has eight airport locations. Six throughout California, and one airport location in Phoenix, AZ, and one airport location in Seattle, Washington.

A – We have a wide range of vehicles to suit your car rental needs. From Economy to full size rental cars, FOX, your discount car rental company, has many different makes and models to choose from. Variety is the watchword as every month we update our car rental fleet to suit the needs of our customers.
FOX in conjunction with EV Rental Cars, offers environmentally friendly hybrid vehicles for rent at all FOX corporate locations.

Q - Can I pick up at one location and return at another?
A - Yes, a one way rental charge will be applied to your rental agreement. One way rentals are only available in between corporate locations in Washington, Arizona and California only. Drop charges range from $20.00 to $500.00.

Q - Do you require a deposit to rent a vehicle?
A - Yes, $250.00 or estimated amount of rental charges plus 15% whichever is greater.

Q - Can I use another person’s credit card to rent a vehicle?
A - No, at the time of rental you would have to meet all qualifications. The name, address, drivers license and major credit card must match.

Q - Do you rent cars by the hour?
A - We required all customers to rent the vehicle for a minimum of 24 consecutives hours. If you returned vehicle prior to the 24 hours requirement, you will be charge for the full day regardless of whether you return the vehicle early.

Q - Do you lease vehicles?
A - No. A long term rental would constitute a maximum of 30 consecutive days.

Q - Do you deliver vehicles?
A - No. However our shuttle will pick you up from and to the airport.

Q - Do you offer pick up service?
A - No. Only from and to the airport.

Q - Do you provide cab or bus reimbursements to get to your location?
A - No. However our shuttle service from and to the airport is fast and convenient.

Q - Can I rent a car to take a driving test?
A - No. Due to potential liability, you must have a valid driver’s license.

Q - Can I take the car out of the state in which I’m renting?
A - Yes, however vehicles must remain in the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, and Nevada only.

Q - Can take the vehicle out of the country in which I’m renting?
A - Yes, the only country you may travel to is Mexico (close to the California and Arizona border), with the purchase of Mexico Insurance.

Q - May I use a car to tow?
A - No, towing is never permitted.

Rental rate:
Q - How is my rental rate calculated?
A - The rates are based on a 24 hour rental day starting with the hour you pick up the vehicle.

Q - Does the cost of the rental include fuel?
A - Our rates do not include fuel.

Q - Do you charge to refuel vehicle?
A - Yes. Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of the rental to avoid refueling charges.

Q - Do late-return fees apply?
A - A rental day is each 24 hour time period commencing with the date/time indicated on the rental agreement (contract) at the time of rental. There is a 59 minutes grace period for return. Hourly charges may apply after this grace period. After three hours full-day charge may apply.

Q - Will any other fees apply?
A - Yes. For us and other rental car companies at many airport locations, airport concession and facility fees may be charged. Please check for fees that apply to your rental in the rate section during reservation process. Other products or additional equipment that you add at the counter will be extra. When you make your reservation on line you will see the breakdown of all taxes and fees including in your total quote.
Pursuant to California law, starting January 1, 2007, all rentals will be charged and airport concession fee of up to 11.1% and a tourism assessment fee 2.5%. Actual charges will be calculated at the time of rental.

Q - What are surcharges?
A - Taxes, fees and other charges always vary by location. A breakdown of all surcharges will be showed to you on the online reservation process.

Q - Why am I being bill for surcharges?

• Infant seats : Are installed rear-facing on to recline at a 45-degree angle. May be without the detachable base.
• Convertible seat : Designed for children from newborn to 40 pounds or 40 inches tall. Seat can be installed either rear- or forward-facing.
• Booster seat : Booster seat raises the child so the car’s lap and shoulder belt fit properly and child’s knees bend naturally.
Child should use booster seat is: Weighs 40-80 pounds. Seat belts don’t fit properly until children weigh about 80 pounds and are 4’9”.

Purchasing Insurance Protections:

• Rental liability coverage (RLP) Primary insurance protecting you against claims made by third party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained while operating the rental vehicle, up to the required financial responsibility limits of the state in which the vehicle is license. Does not cover all situations that may arise while operating a rental vehicle. Cost: $12.99 per rental day.

• Supplemental Liability Coverage (SLP) This coverage is excess over underlying insurance specific within your signed rental agreement up to 1,000,000 dollars. Protects you against claims made by third party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained as a result of an accident while operating the rental vehicle. Does not cover all situations that may arise while operating a rental vehicle. Cost: $11.99 per rental day.

• Personal Property/Personal Accident Coverage (PPC) Personal property coverage protects against damage to personal effects owned by the renter, as well as immediate family members of the renter, who permanently reside in the renters household and are traveling with the renter. Personal accident coverage provides accidental death and accidental medical expense benefit to the renter and their passenger (s). The death and medical expense benefit will both pay in addition to any other coverage that might be applicable to the renter or passengers. Cost: $7.99 per rental day.

• Loss Damage Waiver (This is not insurance) this is a waiver for damage to the rental vehicle only. When accepted at the time of rental FOX Rent a Car will waive the right to collect for damages to the rental vehicle when the vehicle involved in an accident. Cost: Economy, compact and midsize $9.00 per rental day / standard, full size, SUV, mini van, convertibles, luxury, premium, specialty $15.00 per rental day.

• Mexico Insurance FOX offers the purchase of Mexico Insurance (Major credit card only) on vehicle rentals of economy thru full size only. Mexico insurance must be purchase at a FOX location in Los Angeles, San Diego or Phoenix at the time of rental or prior to entrance into Mexico. Rates start at $25.00 per 24 hour day including tax. Hybrids and other vehicles not allowed traveling into Mexico. Travel is allowed to cities in Mexico close to California and Arizona border

Q - What are the benefits of purchasing the insurance?
A - The purchasing of any FOX optional protections provides you with peace of mind and assurance that you are protected against any damage.

Q - Am I required to take the insurance?
A - No, the purchase of Optional Insurance is not required to rent a vehicle. Details available at rental counter.

Q - Does my own insurance protect me in the event of an accident?
A - You should call your own auto insurance company for more information.

Q - Do you offer insurance replacement while the car I own is being serviced?
A - No.

While I’m Renting:
Q - Can I return vehicle to another FOX location?
A - One way rentals are available between FOX corporate locations in Washington, Arizona, and California only. Drop charges range from $20.00 to $500.00 depending on the location.

Q - What happens if I don’t return my car on the designated return date?
A - If vehicle is kept longer than the return date stated on the rental agreement (contract), the rate will increase by $10.00 per day. The increased rate will be charged for each day after due return date, until the vehicle is returned. To extend a rental contract in PHX, customers need to do it in person at the location.

Q - What should I do if I have problems with my car?
A - Call the rental location at the phone number provided on the rental agreement.

Q - What should I do if am involved in an accident?
A - First you should call the police to complete an accident report, the immediately contact us.

Q - What should I do if I get a flat tire?
A - Drive the car to a safe place and change the tire; then contact the rental location at the phone number provided on the rental agreement.

Q - What if I accidentally lock keys in the vehicle?
A - If a customer accidentally locked key in the trunk or in the vehicle, they are fully responsible for all charges and must contact locksmith and then contact the rental location at the phone number provided in the rental agreement.

Q - Lost keys
A - We do not provide with spare keys. If you are in the event where you lost or misplaced keys, you need to contact FOX location where you rented the vehicle to let you know how you can get a duplicate. Because the majority of FOX vehicles are new, to make a duplicate is very sophisticated and need dealership involvement. You will be responsible for dealer charges.

Q - Does FOX offer road side assistance?
A - FOX is pleased to offer roadside assistance in the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, and Nevada. Simply call the toll-free emergency roadside service number located on your FOX Rental agreement holder.

Q - What if I run out of fuel?
A - Customer is fully responsible.

After renting:
Q - How can I get a copy of my rental agreement receipt?
A - For a copy of your rental agreement you can call directly the location where you rented the vehicle from.

Q - Does FOX have a lost and found department?
A - If you have left a personal item in the vehicle you just return, be sure to call directly the FOX location where you rented the car. We highly recommend that you report your lost items at your earliest convenience and we will do our best to find it.

Q - How long does FOX hold lost and found items?
A - Our policy is 30 days after found.

We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:

To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
